What is Transitional Housing?

Your Bridge to Independence

Transitional housing provides stable, affordable accommodation for individuals who are working towards full independence. Unlike exempt accommodation, transitional housing does not require intensive support services, making it suitable for those with lower support needs.

Our transitional housing programme operates nationwide across England and Wales. We accept tenants on Housing Benefit or the housing element of Universal Credit, providing a stable base from which residents can rebuild their financial security.

Typical tenancy duration is 6-24 months, though this varies based on individual circumstances and progress towards independence goals.

Key Differences from Exempt Accommodation

Support Level

Lower support requirements - no dedicated keyworker provision required

Rent Structure

Subject to standard LHA rates - affordable accommodation
